The following section illustrates the guidance steps for uploading hex file to MRP01 using ATMEL FLIP software in Windows:

 

  1. First, prepare the hex file. For example, download the programming firmware hex file from this link: AVRCIRCUIT
  2. Download and install the ATMEL FLIP software from this link: http://www.atmel.com/tools/flip.aspx
  3. Disconnect MRP01 from laptop or desktop
  4. Link the last four pins(Pin3 – Pin6) of ISP output, as follows:

  5. Connect MRP01 to laptop or desktop
  6. If it is the first time to connect, user needs to install the USB driver for it. First, open the “Device Manager” located in [Start] > [Control Panel] > [System]

  7. Locate the new “LUFA DFU” and right-click to select “Update Driver Software”. Next, select “Browse my computer for driver software”.

  8. Browse the FLIP usb installation folder (Default folder location: C:Program FilesAtmelFlip 3.x.xusb) and click [Next] to install.

  9. When the driver for this bootloader is successfully installed, the following message will be displayed:

  10. After installed the usb driver, open the ATMEL FLIP software and it shows as follows:

  11. Connect MCU by selecting [Device] > [Select] > “AT90USB162” and [Settings] > [Communication] > “USB”. The following screen will be displayed when bootloader is started successfully.

  12. Load the hex file by selecting [File] > [Load HEX File].

  13. Download the hex file into MCU by selecting [Run] and the “Verify Pass” message is showed after hex file is downloaded into MCU.

  14. User can start the application by clicking [Start Application].
